I guess I should start by saying that I am by no means an expert on life. But, is there anyone out there who really is? I don’t think it’s possible to ever fully understand life or how to live a happy life. Everyday something happens to us. Everyday we react. We learn. We then take those lessons and apply them to our future to hopefully not make the same mistake again (even though we undoubtedly will). That is what this blog is about: simple everyday lessons that I have learned through hideous mistakes and spectacular triumphs. My only hope is that someday, a woman who is struggling will happen across my blog, read a post or two, and maybe feel a little more confident about herself, her capabilities, and the decisions she is about to make. If there is one lesson that I hope this blog teaches overall, it is that we are strong; we can endure insane hardship and move forward to still lead a happy life.

A second disclaimer: I can honestly say that I have not lived the hardest life. There will probably be people who read this blog who have had much, much worse things happen to them. I have, however, made poor choices, grown up in a less-than-perfect household, and dealt with extreme loss. I have also recently found the love of my life and live a very happily with him and my cat. That is why this blog is titled “just average lessons”. I have not experienced anything more or less special than the next woman. I’m just writing my experiences and lessons down.

Finally, I will not always tell you what you want to hear. I am blunt (sometimes too blunt), but I think we all need that, and sometimes your friends and family are too concerned with hurting your feelings to tell you what you need to hear. I am not like that.

So, sit back and enjoy reading about my stumbles, tumbles, and straight-up face plants. Have a laugh or two. Most importantly, relate and learn so that you can be prepared for whatever gets thrown at you tomorrow.

Thanks for reading!
